Potter’s Wheel Taster – 1 hour 30 minutes
Suitable for ages 8 and up (Please note, anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult)
Curious about the pottery wheel? Our one and a half hour taster session is the perfect introduction! Guided by one of our friendly instructors, you’ll learn the basics of throwing on the wheel—from centering the clay to shaping your very own pot.
No experience? No problem! This hands-on session is designed for absolute beginners, ages 8 and up. Expect to get your hands dirty, have some laughs, and leave feeling pretty impressed with what you’ve created.
At the end of your session, you can choose one of your creations to be glazed and fired (included in the price). Just sit back and let us handle the rest—we’ll contact you when it’s ready to collect!

Looking for something a little more in-depth than our taster session? This half-day workshop is the perfect next step. You’ll have more time to immerse yourself in the art of wheel throwing, explore new techniques, and refine your skills—all in a relaxed, supportive environment.

The core fundamentals of wheel throwing
How to centre, shape, and form clay on the wheel
Practical techniques to help you gain confidence and control
What’s Included:
A 3-hour, hands-on class led by experienced instructors
All tools, materials, and clay provided
Your favourite piece glazed and fired, ready for collection
Plenty of creative freedom and expert support along the way

Clay has a sneaky way of getting everywhere, so wear something comfy that you don’t mind getting a little dirty—it’s all part of the fun! Aprons are provided for potter’s wheel workshops , and if you are hopping on the wheel, be sure to tie back long hair, tuck in scarves or dangly bits, and let your rings and watches sit this one out. Oh—and freshly trimmed nails will make your wheel-throwing life much easier!

Absolutely! If you’re feeling inspired and end up with more than one piece you'd like to keep, you're welcome to have additional pots fired and glazed for a small fee—as long as they’re suitable for the kiln. Our team will check them over and let you know if they're good to go. Just chat with us at the end of your session and we’ll help you choose your favourites!

After your session, your pot will need to dry before we trim, bisque fire, glaze, and fire it again. We’ll mark special numbers on the bottom of your pieces to ensure we know whose is whose.
The entire process takes about 4-5 weeks. Once your pot is ready, we’ll send you an email to let you know it’s available for collection and what times you can come to pick up.
We hold your pot for up to 30 days, so you’ve got plenty of time to pick it up. After that, we might have to recycle it... or turn it into a mosaic in your honour. Just kidding... but seriously, don’t leave it too long, or we might start getting creative with it!

No worries! If you're unable to collect your piece in person, we can arrange to have it posted to you for an additional fee. We hold your pot for up to 30 days so let us know, and we’ll make the necessary arrangements.

Oh no! If your masterpiece cracks or breaks during firing, we’ll cry with you—because we’re emotionally invested in your pottery too! We’ll notify you right away, and while we can’t guarantee every piece will survive the kiln’s fiery embrace, we’ll do our best to help you recreate or repair it. Pottery is a delicate art, after all, but we’re here to help you through it!

We have 6 pottery wheels, so each wheel-throwing session can accommodate up to 6 people.
Sessions are open to everyone aged 8 and up.
