Studio Rules

We want everyone to have a fun, relaxed and creative experience. To help make that happen, we kindly ask all visitors to follow these simple studio rules.

Before You Arrive

  • Please arrive around 10 minutes before your booked session so we can get you checked in and ready to begin.

  • If you're running late, please let us know as soon as possible. For wheel sessions, late arrivals may not be able to join once the demonstration has started.

  • Wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little messy. Aprons are provided for Wheel Taster Session, but clay can sometimes splash.

Children

  • Pottery Painting is suitable for ages 6+.

  • Potter's Wheel sessions are suitable for ages 8+.

  • Children under 16 must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

  • The accompanying adult remains responsible for the child's behaviour and safety throughout their visit.

  • Please help us create a calm and enjoyable environment by ensuring children do not run around the studio.

Respect the Studio

Please help us look after the studio by:

  • Treating staff, other customers and equipment with respect.

  • Following any guidance or safety instructions given by our team.

  • No food is allowed in the studio. Drinks are allowed in the studio, but must be kept in a sealed container with a lid to help prevent spills and protect pottery, paints and equipment.

  • Please do not run or shout in the studio.

  • Please do not touch or handle other people's pottery.

  • Cleaning hands before handling finished pottery.

Anyone behaving in a way that is unsafe, disruptive or abusive may be asked to leave the studio.

Potter's Wheel Sessions

For your safety and comfort:

  • Tie back long hair.

  • Remove rings, watches, bracelets and loose jewellery.

  • Avoid loose sleeves or scarves.

  • Short fingernails make throwing on the wheel much easier.

  • Please listen carefully to your instructor before using the wheel.

Pottery Painting

Take your time and enjoy being creative!

If you need help just ask a member of the team - we're always happy to help.

Finished Pottery

Your pottery will be professionally glazed and kiln fired after your visit.

As pottery is handmade, every piece is unique. Occasionally, items can crack or be affected during firing despite every care being taken. While this is uncommon, it is an inherent part of the ceramic process.

We'll contact you when your pottery is ready to collect.

Please collect finished items within 1 month of notification, as we have limited storage space.

Accessibility

Our upstairs studio is not wheelchair accessible.

If you require step-free access, please let us know before your visit. We can usually accommodate pottery painting sessions in our fully accessible downstairs studio.

Looking After Your Pottery

Once your pottery has been collected, responsibility for its safe transport and care passes to you.

If you choose to have your pottery posted, we will package it carefully, but we cannot accept responsibility for damage caused during delivery.

Photography

We occasionally take photographs of the studio, workshops and finished pottery for use on our website and social media.

If you would prefer not to appear in any photographs, simply let a member of staff know before your session begins.
